Show not Tell Exercise – The party was wild
A kaleidoscope of colours and sounds ricocheted off the dingy walls. Among the heaving mass of bodies, it was easy enough to spot her – a solitary figure tipping precariously like a lifeboat in a tumultuous ocean. She stumbled across the buzzing dancefloor, a clumsy marionette possessed by a mysterious drunken force. As she edged closer the throbbing crowd seemed to sense her fragility and gave her a wide berth. Through the fog of tobacco one could discern her panic stricken eyes, ragged sequined dress and a frightening trail of never-ending crimson. The air shifted and the shrieks of rapture abruptly changed to terror as the crowd scattered like shoals of fish escaping a predator. As I struggled to stay afloat I craned my neck trying to catch one last glimpse of her. But alas she was nowhere to be seen.
